This Australia Day Weekend in the Riverland.

This year we are lucky enough to get a three-day weekend to celebrate Australia Day and the Riverland is full of fun things to do!

Grab your cricket bats, thongs, sunscreen and family and pick a spot by the River or Lake and enjoy a BBQ with family and friends. Or get out on the water, whether it be fishing, cruising, kayaking or water sports.

There are lots of events happening over the weekend across the region with music, food, drinks, entertainment, games and live water action - there is plenty to do for the whole family! Check out some of the events below!

Australiana Games – Morgan Activity Centre

Get the kids into the spirit early at the Morgan Activity Centre on Monday the 14th of January for a day of Australiana games! Including a thong toss, egg & spoon race and lamington challenge, you can also win a prize for dressing in your best Australian gear! Click here for more info.

 

Australia Day BBQ’s

Barmera: Lake Bonney foreshore

There is something for the whole family including a Community Walk from 6:45am, followed by a FREE breakfast, kids activities, team challenges and entertainment.

Renmark: Jarrett Memorial Gardens

Beginning with a free community breakfast from 8am to 9am, followed by the official Australia Day ceremony including the Riverland Brass band, Flag Raising Ceremony, Citizenship Ceremony, presentation of Australia Day Awards and the Australia Day message. Click here for more info.

 

Loxton: East Terrace, next to the Rotunda

Summer Balcony Sessions at the Renmark Club + Rivaz Australia Day Party!

The Renmark club are hosting Summer Balcony Sessions every Friday night, so why not kick off the Australia Day Long Weekend with beautiful river & sunset views, live entertainment and drink specials! Australia Day Weekend at Caudo Vineyard

Caudo Vineyard are hosting two days of fun this Australia Day Long Weekend! Settle in one of their awesome booths or bring along your picnic blankets and chairs and enjoy live entertainment by three-piece band Off Ya Trio on Saturday and DJ Luke Henry on Sunday! Powerboat Spectacular Challenge on the Berri Riverfront

Berri will host Round 2 of the Australia vs USA BAD Boat Challenge on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of January. Bring the family and strap yourself in for two full days of high-speed entertainment with boats reaching speeds of up to 225km/h! Racing starts at 10:30am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. 23rd Street Distillery Australia Day Weekend

Celebrate over three days at 23rd Street Distillery. From 5pm til late on Friday, enjoy specialty cocktails, gourmet pizzas, regional grazing platters and beats by DJ Sarez. Keep the party going on Australia Day from 10am-4pm with drink specials, Australian pizzas and live entertainment by Evie Lucas Music. Then on Sunday from 10am-5pm enjoy the official GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers Countdown to the soundtrack of Triple J's Hottest 100. Netafim Waikerie Australia Day Event

Stating at 6pm Saturday, this not-to-be-missed family friendly event features live Fringe acts, the Rock Pyromusical Fireworks spectacular, live band The Idle Saints, Church service at 6pm held in the Waikerie Football Clubrooms, food stalls of worldwide cuisine served by local sporting and community groups, Loxton Waikerie Council Awards, sideshow alley, amusement rides, kids entertainment & face painting. The Garden at the Loxton Hotel

Annual Pie & Pavlova Eating Competition at the Cobdogla Club

Join in a bit of Australia fun with the Cobdogla Annual Pie and Pavlova eating competition on Australia Day from 7pm. Loxton Library - Australia Day Story & Craft Session

Looking for an activity for the young ones after Australia Day breakfast? Parents can bring their children to the Loxton Library at 9:30am on Saturday to hear the story Emo the Emu: A Gloomy Bird on a Great Adventure written by Tony Wilson and make a colourful emu to take home.
