The Riverland’s specialty is turning river water into ripe fruit.
Generating a quarter of Australia’s wine grape production and 95 per cent of South Australia’s citrus production.
Visit one of the many boutique cellar doors to sample major wine grape varieties, such as Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, as well as rising favourites Montepulciano, Vermentino and Tempranillo.
Whilst visiting cellar doors in the Riverland look for the new meditteranean grape varieties. These include Petit Manseng, Durif, Tempranillo, Fiano, Montepulciano and Lagrein. Each of these varieties is ideally suited to the Riverland warm climate. Make sure you keep an eye out for our Riverland brands when visiting Riverland hotels, clubs & licensed premises.
Many cellar doors offer boutique tasting experiences, offer food or local platters and provide entertainment throughout the year. Some often close for private events so we reccommend calling before you arrive.
New to the region is the Riverland Wine Centre at Pike River. Hosting over 25 different Riverland wineries, the Wine Centre’s interactive storyboards take you through the journey of each winery and help whet your appetite to both taste and discover just a little more.
