Cruising the river
A trip to the Riverland isn’t complete unless you make a splash.
The Riverland is set along 362 kilometres of Murray River, with ample room for your favourite water-based activity. All you need to do is choose the pace. Explore the meandering turns in the river, paddle the lush backwaters or let the adrenalin pulse on a fast-paced boating ride.
Rivergum Cruises offer trips on their brand new boat 'Qatar', cruising up or down the Murray River, enjoying the quiet, smooth waters around Waikerie in the Riverland. Get up close and personal with nature and see the unique bird life, native flora and local fauna while cruising past 100 foot majestic limestone cliffs and glorious native gum and mallee trees on the picturesque banks of the Murray River. Short 2 or 3 hour river cruises and Design Your Own cruises are also available. Rivergum cruises also offer you some wonderful and unique Delightful Day Cruises and experiences to and from Banrock Station, Overland Corner, Caudo Vineyard and Lock 2. The boat carries up to 11 passengers with plenty of room to move around the boat. Bookings are essential.
Enjoy a peaceful sunrise paddle through the maze of creeks and backwaters. Canoe Adventures and Canoe the Riverland can guide you through many of the Riverland's water wonderlands.
Canoe Adventures offers tailored kayak tours or kayak hire. Picture yourself, seated comfortably in a kayak, gliding silently along the glassy surface of a creek, the water mirroring the beauty around you, whistling kites calling overhead, and kangaroos having a drink at the water's edge in the golden light of a sunrise or sunset guided kayak tour. Self-guided hire is also available, with kayak delivery to your desired location, and pick-up downstream for a one-way trip available.
Canoe the Riverland are based in Paringa. They offer both self guided trails and take- away hire. You can launch from their riverside property that offers quiet and easy access to the biosphere and protected backwaters of Woolenook Bend. Alternatively you can take your hire kayaks and canoes with you on your river holiday.
The PS Industry is moored at the Renmark Wharf and is open for inspection most days. Steaming days are held on the first Sunday of each month, Long Weekends and selected days throughout the year. The PS Industry also charters by arrangement.
You can hire canoes and dinghys from one of our local operators and explore the creeks and wildlife or a spot of fishing at your own pace.
The Murray River's waters cater for just about anything: rowing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding and jet skiing. Barmera's Lake Bonney is perfect for any water and wind-assisted activities including kite surfing, wind surfing and sailing. A graded shoreline also offers a safe swimming and watersport environment for families.
