Eat Like A Local has been created to show you where you can find places that serve Riverland product on the menu. This itinerary promises to leave you satisfied to the brim with a suggested day itinerary for breakfast, lunch and tea.

Start the day with a delicious cooked breakfast on the deck at the Loxton Hotel and afterwards take a leisurely walk up the main street to browse country style shops or grab that second cup of coffee.

Then it’s a scenic drive via Yatco Lagoon to Illalangi Fine Wine & Gourmet Food to taste and buy a whole range of local product to take home and they’ve just finished an incredible edible bush tucker garden which sits on top of the cliff and looks over the Murray River.

Beer or wine?

Depending on your tastes and preference we’ve provided two options for lunch which are both located across the river but easily accessed by the ferry crossing at Waikerie.

Caudo Vineyards has a beaut little rustic cellar door situated just metres from the river bank where you can enjoy an authentic local grazing platter or webber style gourmet barbecue.

The other unique lunch setting is the historic Overland Corner Hotel and walking trails. This famous little pub built in 1859 offers a regional style menu which can be enjoyed in the rustic beer garden setting or around the open fire in the front bar.

Afternoon tea and roses.

Home to the biggest rose garden in the southern hemisphere we invite you to drive to Renmark for afternoon tea at Ruston’s Rose Garden. Wander the garden or browse the gift shop while locally roasted coffee and cake is served on the veranda.

Dinner and night cap.

The Mallee Fowl Restaurant has loads of character and offers a divine Australiana themed regional menu for a truly memorable experience amongst the memorabilia and live entertainment.
