Riverland Christmas Family Fun 2019
It's the most wonderful time of the year! and the Riverland is one of THE places to be for all your festive family fun!
From pageants to parties, markets, magical caves and spectacular light displays, there is plenty to entertain the whole family.
Berri's Santa's Cave is happening every Saturday from 9am-12pm from the 23rd of November until the 21st of December. Located on Denny street, Santa will have gifts for children and there will be free face painting!
Bring the family along for an afternoon of Christmas cheer at Chaffey Theatre on Friday the 29th of November with the Band of the SA Police Christmas Concert! Australia’s oldest police band will entertain everyone from the young to the young at heart with a range of classic carols that are sure to bring out the Christmas spirit in all. Even the Christmas Grinch will be singing along to everyone’s favourite carols!
Loxton Light Up Day kicks off a month-long festival of lights in the town of Loxton on Saturday the 30th of November and oh boy is it jam packed! Start by shopping in the vibrant main street all day until 8:30pm and browse the twilight markets from 4:30pm. Take the kids to visit santa, collect free goodies on the Reindeer Road, check out the amusement rides and enjoy Christmas craft activities. There is free family entertainment on the main stage which leads up to the grand finale, an amazing fireworks display on the banks on the river.
Grab the kids, jump in the car, and do a driving tour of the over 350 illuminated Christmas scenes, paintings and coloured light displays, all put on by residents of the town. Save the biggest until last and check out the amazing Christmas Wonderland, featuring over 250 metres of your favourite characters and spectacular light displays, you can also try your luck at finding the 10 hidden Wallies! You can visit this amazing display every night from the 30th of November to the 31st of December, 8:30pm-11pm.
Also in Loxton is the Craft Fair at the RSL Hall on Sunday the 1st of December from 10am-3pm, Community Carols on the Loxton rotunda lawns on East terrace from 7pm on Sunday the 15th of December, Christmas Tree Festival in the CWA Hall from the 30th November-17th December and the Little Town Christmas production 'Three Kings' (running 5 sessions).
Friday November 29th see’s Waikerie come alive with the Waikerie Lions Christmas Pageant. Starting from 5:30pm with Adelaide Party Band FEVER. follwed by a vintage and classic car parade at 6pm, then the Community floats. Kids will be excited when Santa arrives and officially opens Santa’s Cave at the Waikerie Institute.
The Barmera Main Street Christmas Markets are on Sunday the 8th of December. Featuring lots of local produce, crafts, gifts and more it’s the perfect place to purchase your Christmas presents and stroll the main street while enjoying the many food stalls.
Barmera will also be host to their 40th annual Christmas Pageant and Fireworks Spectacular on Friday December 13th. Starting from 5:30pm, featuring live kids entertianment 'Ticklish Allsorts', food stalls and of course the always entertaining Christmas float parade, it’s a great night out for the whole family. Take the kids to see Santa in the amazing Santa’s Cave in the Bonney Theatre! Trick Acoustic will also be playing and finish off the night by watching the amazing Fireworks on the Barmera Oval, overlooking Lake Bonney.
In Berri on Saturday the 14th of December is a Christmas Market at the Berri Church of Christ from 8am-12pm.
The Morgan Christmas Pageant is on Saturday December 14th. Starting at 3:30pm with the Riverfront fair, followed by the pageant at 6pm and fireworks at 9:15pm. There will also be live entertainent by 'River Cats.'
Warm up your vocal chords for a sing-along at one of the many Christmas Carol nights in the Riverland including the Community Carols by Candlelight in Waikerie, Carols by the River in Berri, and the Loxton Community Christmas Carols.
